On this page · 6 setup steps
1 · Install SocialSnap from the Shopify App Store
Getting started is easy. Install SocialSnap from the Shopify App Store with one click.
- Visit the SocialSnap listing on the Shopify App Store.
- Click Add app or Install.
- Review the permissions and click Install app.
- You'll be redirected to the SocialSnap dashboard in your Shopify admin.
2 · Upload your videos
SocialSnap is upload-based — you bring the content, so there's no account to connect and nothing to wait on for platform approval.
- From the SocialSnap dashboard, click Upload videos.
- Drag in your video files (MP4) — exported Reels, TikToks, creator collabs, or customer clips.
- Add an optional caption and thumbnail for each video.
- Group videos into a gallery (e.g. "Homepage", "Product page").
- Tag the products that appear in each video so shoppers can buy from the player.
What about content rights?
- Your own content: upload videos you created or have the rights to use.
- Customer & creator UGC: get permission before publishing someone else's content to your storefront.
SocialSnap stores and displays the videos you upload. It does not post, read, or modify anything on any external social account.
3 · Add the feed widget to your theme
SocialSnap uses Shopify's Theme App Extensions, so you can add the widget without editing code.
- Go to Online Store → Themes in your Shopify admin.
- Click Customize on your active theme.
- Navigate to the page where you want to add the feed (e.g. Homepage).
- Click Add section (or "Add block" for specific areas).
- Search for SocialSnap and select Shoppable Video.
- The feed will appear with your uploaded videos.
- Click Save to publish.
4 · Customize your feed
Customize the feed appearance directly in the theme editor or from the SocialSnap app settings.
Theme editor options
Click on the SocialSnap section in the theme editor to access:
- Layout: Grid, Slider, or Circle (Stories-style)
- Columns: 2–8 columns
- Videos to show: how many videos to display
- Spacing: gap between videos

- Show captions: display video captions on hover
- Hover effect: zoom, fade, or none
App settings
For more options, go to Apps → SocialSnap → Settings:
- Galleries: organize uploaded videos into named galleries
- Video order: drag to reorder how videos appear
- Default layout: set defaults for new galleries
5 · Create custom feeds (optional, Pro)
Create multiple galleries with different videos for different pages. This is a Pro feature.
- Go to Apps → SocialSnap → Feeds.
- Click Create Feed.
- Give your feed a name (e.g. "Homepage Feed", "Product Page Feed").
- Select which videos to include or exclude.
- Copy the Feed ID.
- In the theme editor, paste the Feed ID in the widget settings.
6 · Troubleshooting
Video formats & uploads
For the widest browser support and fastest storefront loading:
- Upload MP4 files encoded with H.264 video.
- Keep individual files reasonably sized so they load fast on mobile.
- Vertical (9:16) clips look best in the feed and stories layouts.
- If an upload fails, check the file format and try again.
Feed not showing
- Make sure you've uploaded at least one video to the gallery.
- Check that the theme app extension is enabled in theme settings.
- Confirm the correct gallery is selected in the widget settings.
- Clear your browser cache and refresh.
Videos not appearing after upload
- Give large files a moment to finish processing after upload.
- Confirm the video is added to the gallery shown in your widget.
- Re-save the theme section so the storefront picks up the change.
